501 Union Brides
Tell us your love story!
We met on a dating app when we both lived in SF. The timing was bad - we dated for a short time and then broke up, but reconnected a year and a half later. We’ve been inseparable ever since.
What about the proposal?
We got engaged on the beach...in the middle of January! We picked up a delicious Italian sandwich from our neighborhood butcher, and off we went. But Alison had packed something extra- rings she designed using stones from both of our families.
When did you know that you were meant to be with each other?
We were having coffee one morning and we both just knew.
Going into the wedding planning, what did you definitely know?
Celebrating with our families was really important to us. Alison’s grandparents are in their 90s, and Elizabeth’s niece and nephew are under the age of 7, so we wanted to make sure they could be present for the whole event. We settled on a brunch wedding- it was perfect!
What surprised you during planning? What was easy, what was difficult?
We were surprised by the elements we ended up caring about- luckily we had strong opinions on different things, so there weren’t a lot of arguments! We had an amazing wedding planner, Christine Viola, who made everything super easy, and brought our dream to life!
Is there anything you wish you knew while you were planning your wedding that you know now?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Chances are, you won’t remember which plates you selected, or what kind of chairs people sat on - your memories will be filled with the people you love.
Any advice for couples planning weddings now? Anything you would have done differently or anything you’d like to add?
Figure out the 2-3 three things you truly care about and for everything else, don’t overthink it.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
It was honestly a perfect day - from the ceremony to our first dance to our final goodbyes. We still think back on our favorite moments: circling each other under the chuppah, our moms dancing together, and seeing friends and family from different points in our life come together and party.
