Tell us your love story!
We actually met 10 years prior to our first date, but it took some social media magic to finally make the connection. An awkward but courageous Facebook message asking for coffee quickly escalated into a long-distance relationship. After 6 months of miles and missing you’s, we made the leap to share a home and a life.
What about the proposal?
One of the greatest draws to one another was our hunger for adventure. After hitting the road to take Kelly to her first ever Green Bay Packer game, we made a pitstop at a local State Park for a quick hike up the mountain to see the beautiful fall colors from above. The sun was setting and we found ourselves alone atop the lookout. At that moment, Heidi dropped to one knee and put a ring on it.
When did you know that you were meant to be with each other?
It was the simplest things… but not your typical “finishing each other’s sentences”. The immediate recognition of one another’s adventurous spirit, spontaneity, values, and ability to put each other first led to our certainty of one another very early on.
Going into the wedding planning, what did you definitely know?
We definitely knew that we wanted our dessert to be donuts with no chance of running out!
What surprised you during planning? What was easy, what was difficult?
That it can really be an enjoyable process if you let it be. One day at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Prioritize and make it a journey.
The easiest part was choosing the venue. The most difficult was narrowing down the booze selection!
Is there anything you wish you knew while you were planning your wedding that you know now?
We wish we knew the Wisconsin Badgers football team would be playing in the Big Ten Championship game the day of our wedding! Fortunately we were able to stream the game live on a big screen to show our Sconnie pride.
Any advice for couples planning weddings now? Anything you would have done differently or anything you’d like to add?
Keep you and your partner in focus always. This is your day and your opportunity to uniquely build a day reflective of your love for one another.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
The intimate moments with one another before the chaos began… our first look, catching an incredible sunset before walking up the aisle, saying our “I do’s”.
