Modern Tacoma Styled Shoot
From the planner...
Tacoma is this hidden gem just 30 miles south of Seattle that offers a variety of options to couples. I wanted to show off of the museum district, and with the views from the atrium of the Tacoma Art Museum of old architecture and the modern clean lines inside, it was a perfect location to show off the city.
In designing the Masculine Modern shoot, I found the clean lines and black floors stunning on their own and didn’t want to hide them. It called for a long clear table with simple, refined décor of black and gold. Jenny GG Photography really was able to capture my vision of showing off the space and Tacoma perfectly, as well as our models/real life couple Eric and Diego who happen to be celebrating their first anniversary. They looked so great in their tuxedos from The Black Tux (it was the first time Eric has seen Diego in one!). The added hint of gold with the rings and cufflinks with their initials really made their attire pop.
I love the collaborative spirit of our local wedding industry; I wanted to give them my design board inspiration and let their creative minds run with it. Gina with From the Ground Up Florals did an incredible job with her interpretation using both local and tropical greens in her arrangements. For the ceremony, she brought in custom made acrylic stands to give different heights while not obscuring the view of the city and Mt. Rainier and added in subtle candlelight with a mixture of hurricane vases and gold votives. The greenery and candles lead us down the staircase to the table where she added some greens to the plates and came up with the idea of pressing some in between two acrylic sheets underneath the tall centerpiece. The clear table was such a statement piece; being able to see through to the beautiful floors just made everything look like it was floating. I used the Two-Toned Chameleon chairs from CORT Party Rentals to add a touch of glamour to both the ceremony and table design alongside the modern Pure glassware, Slate Coupe plates, Gold Rimmed Aria Chargers and Gold Urban flatware. Paper Luxe nailed it with her hand created menus and the signage, they added the perfect softness the table needed next to the gold acrylic place cards.
Honey Crumb Cake Studio is always a go to for us with her incredible eye for detail. I gave her the design board and the minimal instruction of wanting a modern black and gold cake with her artistic touch and she blew me away with the cake! I added the New York Brass linen from La Tavola Linens and to me, it became another piece of art next to the museum’s giant cardboard dog Leroy.
