Fairytale In France
Our journey of love began with a trip to South America where, whilst enjoying our shared passion for travel and adventure, we fell for each other on an amazing night in Rio.
After lots of alphabet dates, when it got to the letter "R," Libby knew it had to be for 'Ring' and pulled off an unforgettable engagement weekend away filled with rest and relaxation, roses, a picnic by the river, a family supper at the River Cafe and of course, the ring! The final surprise was a flight to France where we ended up picking our dream wedding venue the very next day.
From here on in the boss lady (Clare) took charge of everything and put her organizational skills to the test by planning not 1 but 2 weddings - 'the legal bit' in the UK and 'the big day' in France. Choosing our French destination was easy - as soon as we saw Soulac we knew it was the one, but with only 1 date available in 2016, it meant only 8 months to plan our dream days! First on the list were the dresses - we wanted to keep them top secret from one another, and there were a few funny moments of confusion in the bridal boutiques we visited! The photography, flowers, food, music and everything else were easy as we agreed on them all (well almost) - thankfully there were no major bridezilla episodes along the way! We wanted our wedding days to be as personal to us as possible so set about creating lots of little touches during plenty of arts and crafts sessions. Everything came together without a hitch - well apart from a few cases of the chicken pox and air traffic control in France going on strike - and we really did have a fairytale fortnight of weddings and incredible celebrations with our closest family and friends.
Make the most of every second and be happy! We had the perfect wedding days by doing things just the way we wanted, not feeling bound by any traditions. We read lots of bridal magazines and were really surprised by how few mentioned same sex weddings - in fact we were the first for most of our vendors so hope we showed them that 2 brides can be better than 1!
