A little background story...
I'm a pediatric ICU nurse. I moved here from Kentucky (where I spent my entire life) after graduating from college in 2014. I knew absolutely no one. After swiping left many times, and swiping right a few, I decided to get off Tinder and give up on dating. Then, one extremely rainy weekend in October after being stuck inside for 3 days with Otto, I decided I was bored (yes, it's sad, I know) and downloaded a lesbian dating app (HER) to window shop, basically. That's how I stumbled upon Elizabeth and we ended up getting drinks at The Hay Merchant in Montrose that same evening. After being somewhat impressed by the evening and totally confused as to why she wasn't dipping the pretzel I bought us in the cheese dip (WHO DOES THAT?! [she was trying veganism at the time and I just didn't know it]) I decided to try to get to know her more. The following weekend happened to be both her birthday and Halloween weekend. She flew back to DC to be with her family and I stayed here to dress as a nerd (not much different than my every day attire). For some reason that weekend, everyone I met I just had to tell about how I had met this new girl and I just didn't know where things were going to go, but I wanted to be pretty much exclusive to her until I figured out what it was going to turn into. She returned to Houston, we continued to hang out - do the whole maybe dating/pre-dating activities - until, long story short, I basically swept her off her feet and made her fall madly in love with me. Well, that's how I remember it at least. Elizabeth would probably correct me here and make fun of the way I told her I loved her after a month of knowing her, and I would quickly follow up with how she said it back just two days later. We like to tease. So, us in a nutshell, is pretty much your typical movie love story. We met, we had drinks, she left, I stayed, she came back, we went on dates, I said I loved her, and she couldn't lie to herself so she took the plunge and decided to love me back. We have since adopted a puppy together (Scout pout as we like to call her - she whines a lot) and I'm pretty sure Otto thinks we bought him a girlfriend... I just can't seem to break the news to him that they're siblings. Now we live in a lovely townhome together, we've met each other's families, and it's mutual - our families totally approve and support our choices of partners. I broke the news to her parents this past weekend while we were both in DC that I was going to ask Elizabeth to marry me sometime this fall and they are completely supportive. It's somewhat unbelievable how perfectly our lives have meshed together.
Now on to the less mushy, love story information. A list of things we enjoy, both together and separately. I'm pretty much a big kid at heart. I enjoy coloring, animated kid's movies and cartoons. I love to laugh and joke and make sure I give at least one person a compliment every day. Elizabeth is an engineer so she's the more responsible one in this relationship. She makes sure our dinner is cooked (she LOVES to cook), she makes sure we eat healthy and get our exercise, and she makes sure the puppies and I are taken care of. Who would have thought the younger one would be more put together? Together we enjoy riding our bikes. Elizabeth has done multiple triathlons and races, and I just bike to work and in my free time when I feel like it. We like playing tennis, going on hikes, and being outside. We like to dream about our future- what kind of house we want, how our kids will be weirdos just like us, and what city we'll end up in.
