Tell us your love story!
We met online and dated for several months before we quickly realized we wanted to spend our life together. We got engaged on the one year anniversary of our first date!
What about the proposal?
Neither one of us wanted to propose to the other one in a typical fashion so we ring shopped together and then picked a day for proposals and split it up. Kristi had the first half of the day and Erin the second half. Kristi booked us a room at the Four Seasons the night before and while out to breakfast in the morning, hotel staff worked hard to pull of Kristi’s vision of balloons, photos, flowers, and the ring. Erin was stunned! After taking it all in (and Erin saying yes!!), unbeknownst to either of us, Erin had planned Kristi’s proposal at the Four Seasons as well! Her favorite bottle of wine is served there and Erin had a custom label made for it and worked with a waiter to have that brought to the table when we ordered it. Erin then brought out Kristi’s ring and she said yes! We had a great lunch and a relaxing afternoon and then hosted a “holiday party” for our friends and family where we surprised them with the news! We love how the whole day turned out!
When did you know that you were meant to be with each other?
Erin: I knew Kristi was the one for me when we talked about and agreed about wanting the same things out of life. I love her zest for adventure and travel and knew she would be a wonderful person to see the world with!
Kristi: A few months into dating, we took a trip to Cape Cod. At some point during that trip, my feelings went from “hey, I really like being with you” to “I can’t imagine my life without you!” I remember being on the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard, watching the sunset, and thinking to myself, I’m going to marry this girl.
Going into the wedding planning, what did you definitely know?
We knew first and foremost that we wanted a wedding planner! Kristi has a great eye for design so we knew what look we were going for (Kate Spade inspired) but wanted someone to help us tie the pieces together. We wanted our wedding to feel Northwest inspired and wanted a FUN party!
What surprised you during planning? What was easy, what was difficult?
We were surprised by the variety and cost of chairs. Who knew there were so many options and that what looked like a regular white chair was $20/piece?! Overall, we really enjoyed the planning process.
Is there anything you wish you knew while you were planning your wedding that you know now?
A lot of people say not to worry about little details because you won’t pay attention to it on your wedding day. I noticed everything and was so happy we cared about details. So, if something matters to you, don’t let someone tell you it won’t be important on your wedding day.
Any advice for couples planning weddings now?
HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER. Our planner, Holly, was the best investment for our wedding. There is very little I would change but if I could have made it last a little longer, I would have. We were having the time of our lives and it was sad to see it end.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
Erin: I loved walking down the aisle and seeing the room full of our favorite people! I also loved our custom labeled beverages that guests had during the ceremony and that we were able to cheers with walking back down the aisle.
Kristi: It’s hard to pick one moment so I’ll share two. We stayed at the Four Seasons with our bridal parties the night before the wedding. Getting ready with my crew and anticipating seeing Erin was amazing. I remember waking up with two of my cousins next to me, feeling intense happiness and excitement. As the morning went on, seeing all of my closest friends looking amazing made my heart sing! I will never forget the moment I could see all of our wedding guests as I started to walk down the aisle. I was walking alone (my father passed away 7 years ago) and seeing 200+ people who love and support us was simply magical.
