A Fire Island Wedding
For Jeff and I, getting married on Fire Island was a no-brainer. We first met on Fire Island (a weekend getaway destination for New Yorkers) 8 years prior to our wedding date. We met through mutual friends at "Low Tea" - it's the Fire Island Pines daily tradition of joining friends at The Blue Whale to catch up, have drinks and dance. We spent that evening getting to know each other and had our first official date in the city the following Monday. We hit it off pretty instantly and over the next few years built our relationship, moved in together, and spent our summers vacationing on Fire Island. The island had become a part of us just as much as each other.
About two years prior to getting married, Jeff proposed to me on the beach in Fire Island and we decided then and there that we would also bring our families and friends together to this special place for our wedding. Planning the series of events that would make up the wedding weekend was no easy task. The logistics of getting food, furniture, lighting, sound, flowers and everything else for a wedding to an island with no major roadways had its challenges. Fortunately, we were blessed to have worked with an amazing wedding planner and a number of amazing wedding vendors that made the weekend of our dreams come to life seamlessly. For our wedding it was our hope that we would bring our families and friends to this beautiful destination to enjoy everything that we love about this place. This included the beach, the sunsets, the music and dancing, the nature and the relaxation.
