A Vineyard Affair
Anne and Carole wanted to have a wedding day that reflected their love for food and wine, in Sonoma where they share a home set amongst the beautiful vineyards. The flowers were inspired by a play on soft femininity with white and blush tones and also a urban and more masculine influence with the corrugated tin containers. They both had their families walk them down the aisle, and did a ceremonial sip of wine from a shared cup using wine from their private vineyard. Their ceremony was officiated by the one and only Kate Kendell, who shared very moving thoughts on marriage and on the importance and significance of their wedding date -- on National Coming Out Day.
Cocktails and appetizers were passed outside, and right before the guests entered into the tent for dinner, Carole surprised Anne by playing Anne's favorite song, Fur Elise, on the piano. She had been secretly taking piano lessons for weeks so that she could perform at their wedding. Anne and Carole trusted their wedding planner to come up with something beautiful because they ultimately just wanted to be married and start their new life together. "We knew we wanted to reflect their love for food and wine, and to show their sophisticated yet laid back personalities."
Guests were especially touched that in lieu of favors, the NCLR was given a big donation. We all loved working on this wedding together, and the result was perfect -- two women so totally in love, surrounded by family and friends in a gorgeous setting, starting a new life as wives together.
