A Portland, Maine Marriage
From the groom, Rommie...
Dennis and I met on April 3, 2005 in Portland, Oregon after about a month of emailing and talking on the phone. I lived in Portland, living the life of most recent college graduates; working and hopelessly looking for love. Dennis, at that time, lived in Eugene, a city about 2.5 hours away. We first met online after he had seen a social media profile of mine. He emailed me and we started chatting. At that time, he traveled for work and spent most of his time on the road, but we always made time to call or email.
We finally decided to meet at a coffee shop next to my apartment, however I gave him the wrong address and I thought he decided not to come. He knew better and walked around the neighborhood to find me. I remember him wearing a black LL Bean jacket, blue jeans and sneakers. He was so cute that day.
We moved to Boston in 2009 and bought a house in 2013. I proposed the night we moved in and we were engaged. The planning process was really fun. We decided we wanted to have a Maine wedding around our anniversary date. We wanted the ambiance to be traditional, easy, and full of friends and family. Dennis found our venue, Grace Restaurant, which is a converted methodist chapel, with beautiful woodwork and stained glass windows. We also found a large beach house on Cape Elizabeth so that our guests could stay the weekend. Our sister in law made the flower arrangements and invitations. The food, cake and drinks were all provided by Grace. Of course, our photography was done by Brittany Bugaj.
We got married on April 5, 2015 and it was the best day.
