Tell us your love story!
Jamie and I met at work, actually, and first became friends. The more we time we spent together the more our love grew into something more.
Tell us about the proposal!
It was a Monday night and I wanted to surprise Jamie with a trip to Alki beach. The feeling of Alki beach was so much like our former Californian roots with a view of our new home, Seattle. Once on the seawall, as the sun didn't exactly set but was going behind the clouds, which Jamie was sure to point out, I pulled out the ring and rambled nervously about my love for her and that there would be no one I would rather be with. In perfect lesbian fashion she started to cry, but not tears of joy, rather sadness that she wasn't able to propose to me like she had been planing. Once I convinced her that I was just happy we had found each other, I insisted she give me an answer to my question. With happy tears now, she said yes. We walked along the beach, called her brothers to share the good news and had a lovely, romantic dinner with a view of our favorite city in front of us.
When did you know that you were meant to be with each other?
After we became friends and started getting close, I knew it was more than friendship and I would never be able to be without her.
Tell us about your big day…
Our big day was perfect and nothing like the disasters or horrible bridezilla brides I had heard about. Our wedding started in our communal room of our building with our small wedding party sipping champagne and mingling while Jamie and I, together, had our makeup and hair done. The love and relaxation in the room was the perfect way to start the day. Our photo session went so smoothly with the help of Jenny GG, the sun even made an appearance. After photos we all headed to Lake Union Cafe where we had planned to have our wedding party spend time enjoying the magical building and snack on a few small bites. Then the big moment where we said our vows was finally here, but once I locked hands and eyes with Jamie, I could only see and feel her and the rest of the night was a blur of laughter, dancing , speeches and of course dick's cheese burgers:) With a small wedding party but larger wedding reception we were able to have intimacy and also share the moments of our vows with all of our guests. Jenny made it possible for us to play a photo slideshow of our morning and vows, so everyone could be a part of our big moment. Our closest friends had splurged and bought us a hotel room for the night. We were whisked away, not by carriage, but by Uber, and had the most perfect ending to the most perfect day!
Going into the wedding planning, what did you definitely know?
We knew that we wanted to be hosts to a relaxing fun cocktail party that was also our wedding.
What surprised you during planning?
Once we found our venue planning was an absolute breeze.
Any advice for couples planning weddings now? Anything you would have done differently?
What made our planning so easy, in part, was having a location where everything was on site. From food to flowers to the cake we didn't have to find individual people, Lake Union cafe did it all and made it a one stop shopping experience with absolutely no stress.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
My favorite part of my day was having Jamie by my side from the moment we woke up on our wedding day to the moment we fell asleep in each other's arms.
