From London to New York
We are crushing on the enviably cool style of these ladies. Nothing says summer like Brooklyn Bridge Park and bold colors. The best part is that Kathryn and Gina's chic Brooklyn wedding isn't even what's making us swoon most, their amazing love story is what really did us in.
While studying at Ravensbourne University, London UK, Gina, with her best friend (and roommate) Keigo, both won a design contest that enabled them to book an around the world trip(!). Upon departure, Gina made Keigo promise to be her wing-man and visit one gay bar in each major city they visited.
First up was NYC, where Kathryn was in graduate school studying cultural theory. On Gina and Keigo’s last night in NYC they made it to Henrietta’s where they met Kathryn. Kathryn and Gina talked for hours, closed the bar, and Kathryn walked Gina to the subway where they exchanged a first kiss. They remained pen-pals at first, sending odd objects, postcards and letters from around the world to one another, until 2006, when Gina made NYC her home. Once living in NYC, the timing was finally right and they started dating, then they moved in together along with Kathryn's two cats Bokser and Mister, who quickly adopted Gina's belly as their own. Gina, in love with Kathryn and NYC decided to apply for Greencard status and nervously awaited the outcome (for over a year). On March 23rd, 2011, Kathryn took the plunge and asked Gina to marry her (she said YES!) to make clear that even if the Greencard didn't work, the relationship would. Kathryn had a ring made, as well as dinner, and the skies provided a dramatic backdrop with a spectacular show of lightening, hail and snow. In August 2011, Gina received her Greencard and 'extraordinary alien' status, and now is looking forward to the rest of their lives together. They wed in Brooklyn on July 1st, 2012.
