A Connecticut Engagement Shoot

Tell us how you met and fell in love!

We actually met on a lesbian dating app, go figure. On our first date we went mini golfing and Kelsey sank four hole-in-ones, so that pretty much sealed the deal.

Was there a proposal? Tell us about it!

Unfortunately, when we started dating, Kelsey’s dad was battling cancer. We knew fairly early on in the relationship that we both were in this for the long haul and wanted our families to meet while her dad could still accept visitors. So, we had a big barbeque at her parents’ house with both the families. Our best friend/roommate/videographer Mike was enlisted to take a big group photo and little did I know was actually filming the proposal that was about to happen. It was the perfect time, with all our family there with us.

Are you planning your wedding right away or giving yourself some time to just be engaged?

Around the time of our engagement, Kelsey’s dad was battling cancer, I was starting a new career as a veterinarian, and we were moving. We both knew we wanted to give ourselves a bit of time to be engaged and were not super concerned about getting married as soon as possible. However, our wedding plans did fall in to place fairly easily so from time of engagement to wedding will only be about a year and a half.

What’s the best thing you’ve learned from your spouse-to-be?

Holly: As a painful introvert, the best thing that I have learned from Kelsey is to get out of your comfort zone every now and then. Eat things you normally wouldn’t try, go hangout with your coworkers after work when you would normally just go home, get put together and go out on a nice date every now and then. Don’t pass up opportunities that have the potential to make your life better.

Kelsey: Holly has taught me so much. She has allowed me to feel comfortable with myself and always reminds me that I am deserving. As cheesy as it sounds, she has taught me to be a better person, to others and to myself.

What’s your favorite part of your relationship?

Our friendship. We both regularly tell each other that the other is our best friend. We both love that we can just be totally relaxed and ourselves around each other.
