A Plant-Filled Love Shoot
Courtney and I met at the gym in Sterling, VA. The second I saw her, I knew she was the one for me - the one person I am meant to spend this lifetime and more with. There was this familiar feeling as though we had already known each other and as though we were already in love.
Something in my heart lit up and stayed lit from the moment I saw her. I didn't know my feelings for her could continue growing but they have and it was like the universe brought us together to love one another and spend this life together. She felt the same way - drawn to one another and so in love. Even to this day our love has grown, she is on her 5th week in Air Force basic training and I have only received a 15 minute phone call and some letters, but am sure to write her daily and miss her as though the biggest part of me is missing. Before she left she knew we would be spending our first wedding anniversary apart so she surprised me by taking me to one of my favorite places (a plant conservatory) and had a photographer there while we read our vows again. We both had thought we felt love or knew love before, but this relationship has defined both of our true meanings of love and what love is supposed to feel like.
What is the best quality about the other person?
Since the beginning I’ve been drawn to Courtney - she has this infectious smile and calming affect on me that makes me feel complete and safe. All things I didn't feel before, but I feel now. After 2 years together she is still the only person I’d never want to experience any part of life without. We both have big smiles and have been told by even our family and friends that our love is felt and seen between us and we spread love and happiness with that. Our grandmothers never understood our sexuality until they experienced being in the same room with us - they said “it all makes sense, this is love.” Our wedding day was filled with so much love and laughter and it was as though all the people from across the US that gathered together and never met before had already known each other and shared the same love. Things weren’t hard - they just fell into place and there was no fighting - everyone just shared love and laughter.
What is the best thing that your significant other has taught you?
How to love, be loved fully and to never allow someone else to manipulate me into being anything other than myself. When we first met I was in an extremely toxic, abusive relationship and didn’t see any ending. Courtney was my light, still is my light. She showed me what “safe love” is. I learned that it was “safe enough to stay” and that I was worthy of receiving the same love I always gave others. Her love has brought me life and myself again. It was as though I was made for loving her and spending this lifetime and every lifetime before and after with her. A twin flame if you will. I never had any doubt or insecurities and we have always fully trusted one another. I know my home is wherever I am with her!
What do you most look forward to in the future with your significant other?
Being Air Force wives and having a family! Kids, love, carrying on with both our families and friends and moving wherever the Air Force decides. I know life will be amazing by her side and her by mine!
Tell us a bit about your love shoot! What made you decide to do a love shoot? Where did the style/design inspiration come from?
Courtney knows I love plants and am a crazy plant lady so she decided to have a shoot at a beautiful place for our anniversary. I had no idea and she picked out what I should wear and what not. I have never cried so many happy tears or felt so much love and appreciation in my life!
