Jaime and I met while working together at a restaurant almost 10 years ago. The first time we met she said "oh hey!", as if we'd been old friends....needless to say I was a little thrown off, and confused. She knew, she knew our hearts had already connected. We became close work buddies, and later became good friends. We were both in other relationships at the time, so friends was where we stayed for quite a few years. Jaime left town to serve in the Air Force, I must admit, I was a little heartbroken. She always made work shifts a little better. Through her time in the military we stayed in touch. I went through beauty school and was working in a salon by this point. She would come home for hair appointments and lunch/coffee dates. We both went through breakups, and provided shoulders to cry on. Then Jaime dropped the bomb that she was being deployed....my heart/stomach sank. I was terrified for her. I knew she had to go, and I knew there were no options, but I was so scared...and so was she. Jaime made it back safely and was stationed in Las Vegas and Nellis Air Force base. Our friendship continued, seeing each other through more relationships, and breakups. Finally, we were both single....and actually lived in the same area. We began spending more and more time together. We quickly knew there was much more than friendship between us.
Today, we share a home, a life, and soon we'll share our names. We love to travel, hike, eat good food, and drink good wine. I get to marry my very best friend. We have seen each other through so many ups and downs, and I can't wait to spend our lives together. We are so thankful that we even have the opportunity to get married! It wasn't long ago when that wasn't even an option for us. Life is good, especially when it is spent a with your favorite person in the world.
